The Mill of Moustelat (at 14.07km from Ste Foy, in Pessac sur Dordogne )

The Mill of Moustelat was built in 1724 and was spared from fire and religious wars. Located by the small stream called "la Soulège", it was the seventieth and last mill situated before the mouth of the Dordogne.

Entirely renovated by the Barriers Family, Béatrice and Robert, it's now open for visits everyday by appointment.
Béatrice and Robert will be glad to welcome you, they'll show you the mill as well as the old bread oven.
At the end of the visit, they 'll also offer you  their wines to taste (appellation Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux) .

   Sardy's Gardens in Vélines (11 Km from Ste Foy La Grande )

Surrounding the main house (of Middle-Age architecture) repaired in the XVIIIth century, the Sardy's gardens will amaze you by their incredible situation, isolated in the countryside.

These gardens have been inspired by English and Italian designs ; you'll also discover a subtle and astonishing mixing of colours with flowers and cypresses ornamented  by basins. If you are a nature-lover , this poetic and marvellous atmosphere will delight you .

You have three choices to visit the Sardy's gardens : Either the gardener will be guide you roud in this splendid setting, inviting you to smell the various fragances ; or you'll be able to follow the owner of this site  who will tell you , with emotion, the story of Sardy , the anecdotes about the garden's designers (her English mother and the architect "Price of Rome" ) ; or, you can visit the garden alone and make your own tour as you want .

  The Gallo-Roman site of Moncaret (14.52 Km from Sainte Foy la Grande in the direction of Castillon)

The Gallo-Roman site of Moncaret is a national site where you'll discover a lot of wonderful mosaics of quality , in a room of 60 square-metres. The traces of the First and IVth centuries , altered during the Middle-Ages, belong to a gallo-roman villa of peristyle architecture. This exhibition is extremely interesting and the high level of medieval creativity is amazing .

  The Tower of Montaigne (19 Km from Sainte Foy la Grande in the direction of Castillon )

Spared by fire which ravaged a part of the ancestral residence of the Eyquems of Montaigne family in 1885 , the Tower of Michel Eyquem , Lord of Montaigne (1533-1592 ) is situated at the gates of Bergerac and Saint Emilion, in the heart of a superb grounds.

This historical and national site is open for guided-tours ; also you 'll learn more about this famous writer and philosopher (he wrote several works between 1571 and 1592 ) .
