Saint-Foy-Bordeaux, Bordeaux superieur and Bergerac Montravel

Among the different French regions that produce wine , Aquitaine is undoubtedly the foremost, be it in terms of its size , its long history or the quality of its vineyards. Vines  are grown in all the five departments that make up the region, each of them with its own special terrain and flavours just waiting to be discovered !

Bordeaux , the world's largest winegrowing region , is divided into 5 areas : Bourg-Blaye , Libourne (red wines only, headed by Saint Emilion and Pomerol ), the Medoc (Pauillac, Saint Estephe....), Graves and Sauternes , and the Entre-Deux -Mers.

In our area, thera are 4 appellations :  Bordeaux, Bordeaux Superieur, Ste Foy -Bordeaux and Bergerac / Montravel. In the east of the region ,in a crescent stretching from Bergerac down to Agen  there are the vineyards of  Red Perigord around Bergerac (Pecharmant, Monbazillac, Saussignac...)and those of Montravel to the west ; then heading southwards, the Cotes de Duras and Cotes du Marmandais , the wines of Buzet and finally the Cotes- du Brulhois.

The Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur appellation wines are produced in vineyards in the Gironde which do not have a more specific appellation. The art and originality of Bordeaux's wines result from a blending of different varieties of grapes which provides the best quality wines by  complementing each other.

Located in the north-east of the Gironde department and bordering on the river Dordogne , the Sainte Foy vineyards were long considered a part of the Entre-Deux-Mers region.
Sainte Foy has inimitable soil and its own micro-climate which produce wines of great distinction. The soil is  varied and good for winegrowing because it is  warm and the grapes tend to ripen early.

Ste Foy- Bordeaux is a wine of great tradition. It's a complex appellation from a great diversity of terrains, which adds to its mystery and prestige. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc,  Merlot and  Malbec are the most important varieties contained in the Red and Rosé Ste Foy -Bordeaux. For the dry mellow and sweet Ste Foy -Bordeaux, three main varieties are used :  Semillon,  Muscadelle and Sauvignon .The wines of Sainte-Foy are deeply coloured with a pronounced bouquet. They have excellent ageing potential. The white wines (the appellation produces dry  and sweet white wines) have a great deal of aromatic finesse , body, and richness.
