Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is a charming, coloureful town founded in 1225 by Alphonse de Poitiers. Its lanes, half-timbered houses and town square encircled by picturesque archways afford an exceptional asset for this town .

Surrounding the Bastide, you can enjoy the charm of the gites and guesthouses that lie among the undulating country between Saint-Emilion and Bergerac. The Bastide's centre is on the banks of the river Dordogne which runs through the "Pays Foyen". This river allows everyone  to enjoy activities like boat-trips, rowing, canoeing and fishing.

Several vineyards are established along the south of Ste-Foy with appellations such as Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superior. If you want more information about local wines, you can go to Port Ste Foy to the House of the River and the Wines of Sainte-Foy.

Then at the north of Ste-Foy, you'll find the Bergerac and Montravel vineyards (a map can be provide by the tourist office ).
Ideally situated between the slopes of Monbazillac (near Bergerac) and those of St-Emilion, you are truly in the heart of vineyards .
